In Kosovo and Albania there is a long tradition of folk songs that are sung by women and passed on from generation to generation. It has acted as a means of knowledge distribution and history-writing for those who were kept away from school, and from literacy, by patriarchal society. Fatime Kosumi aka ANDRRA, whose parents came from Kosovo to Germany, has explored these sometimes-impassioned, sometimes-mournful oral traditions over the course of several journeys.
On her EP »Palinë«, which was produced by PC Nackt (Apparat, Hans Unstern), ANDRRA now presents this tradition under a new guise: intimate, expansive, captivating, slowly growing soundscapes. She’s supported live by a band built around PC Nackt.
