Voice, drums, guitar: AUF is distilled into the original rock band setting. Before mastermind Anne Rolf brought her current colleague Mathias Brendel with her into the saddle, she was already raising dust with the group Wuhling and the project Allroh. Now she breaks the spell of a »genreless« (Rolfs) music flow using six strings – and texts that are leagues deeper than her native Baltic Sea.
The word »AUF« can be understood here as both open and opening, which leads us to one of the oldest documented human consciousness-expanding practises (after eating mushrooms): drilling a hole in the skull. And though we can assume that Rolfs doesn’t intend to do you any physical harm, it is not a stretch to say that she could actually open your skull with the force of her guitar – even in the quiet parts.
