Two men, one piano – prepared piano, à la John Cage. But Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel don’t stop at rebuilding and modifying their instrument; they also manipulate (and often electronically) the sounds elicited from the morphed piano. With this approach, the minimal music resonates with colours of ambient, IDM, and techno. The duo’s first album, »Dilation«, was lauded internationally.
Now, celebrating the live premiere of their second longplayer, »Open«, the Grandbrothers come to »Pop-Kultur« for an evening, in a show exclusively for us, to envelop themselves in white light. »White Nights – A Theater of Light« is an audiovisual production intersecting music, light, and shadow, that go developed together with design agency BUREAU Mario Lombardo. It’s a poetic, emotionally charged river flowing through a bright night.
