Talk with Stephanie Thiersch and Jemek Jemowit Host:  Jenny Friedrich-Freksa

Globalisation is one of the strongest forces in contemporary society. As such, it has left undeniable traces in contemporary art. Artists and cultural workers exchange and interact fluidly across national borders, mobilise themselves through interconnected markets, and collaborate both digitally and face-to-face. This transnational exchange often leads to cultural richness, but it can also result in the homogenisation or standardisation of art. In this talk, Jenny Friedrich-Freksa, Stephanie Thiersch, and Jemek Jemowit discuss the dangers, potentialities, and possible managerial approaches related to this global dynamic.

Thiersch is the artistic director of the dance company MOUVOIR; Jemowit is a Polish concept artist and musician; while Friedrich-Freksa, who will moderate, is the editor of KULTURAUSTAUSCH. The series of talks »Kunst & Demokratie« (»Art & Democracy«) is organised as part of »Frankfurt in French« as France is the Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2017.
