»The Three Stages of Musical Subjectivity in the Age of Post-digitalism«

The musician Tom Krell aka How To Dress Well and the author and critic Jens Balzer invite Pop (yes, Pop itself) onto the analyst’s couch. In a one-off lecture performance, the two look deep into the soul of pop music and offer a psychoanalysis of its last ten years – i.e., from the point at which both the means of music production and the distribution channels became completely digitised.

What did you do with love, oh Pop? What became of the old battle cry for authenticity? What songs do today’s working class sing? These and other questions are asked and answered by Krell and Balzer with the assistance of several music video clips. Krell will even sing in the haunting falsetto he’s become known for over the course of his four How To Dress Well releases.

This event will be held in English.
