Only very few bands have been as influential as CAN, which was formed in 1968 in a Cologne apartment. With their psychedelic, avant-garde, jazz-tinged rock, CAN quickly became the flagbearers of what was known outside of Germany as »Krautrock«. Today, albums like »Tago Mago« and »Ege Bamyasi« occupy a legendary status. In his official CAN band biography »All Gates Open«, the English writer and culture journalist Rob Young recounts the story of Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit & Co.

He will introduce it at »Pop-Kultur« for the first time in Germany. His previous books include »Electric Eden: Unearthing Britain’s Visionary Music«, and portraits of the seminal labels Rough Trade and Warp. Young is a Contributing Editor at The Wire and also writes for Uncut, the Guardian, and Frieze.
