She earned a master’s degree in African History from Cambridge University, works in human rights, and has a black belt in karate. One can presume, then, that the producer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and radio host Nabihah Iqbal knows how to use her time well. For musical performances, Iqbal goes by »Throwing Shade«.
As such she’s already written a commissioned work for the Tate Modern, collaborated with Wolfgang Tillmans, and released music on numerous labels, most recently Ninja Tune. Her songs test the boundaries of classical pop and navigate the borders between digital and analogue life. And, as you’ve probably already guessed, they sound damn good.
